Today Jorge and I went to a local dog park. We had this great idea to take the dogs out, get coffee and take them to the dog park. When we arrived with our coffee the rules said no food or beverage allowed. So we quickly drank our beverages and hesitantly entered the park for our first time ever. It was very nice that everything was well fenced and there was no way for our babies to escape. Usually when Rambo encounters a new dog, he sniffs them a while but is then fine. On the other hand, when Dino meets a new dog, he goes absolutely wild. He jumps so high and far that he falls on his back or side because he's still attached to his leash. And he barks extremely loud until we pull him away from the dog and continue our walks. My neighbor told me that this behavior was because he was leashed and felt like he had to protect me. So we've been wanting to go to a place where we could unleash Dino and see if he behaves properly around other dogs.
We kept them on their leashes at first. Then after a few minutes I decided that Rambo would be fine off of his leash and let him go. He was very calm and pranced around a little bit. There was an American Bulldog that wanted to get to know Rambo but he was super afraid and ran away from him.
He played around with a few other dogs then Daddy let Dino off of his leash. Thankfully Dino did a great job and just kind of walked around quietly. He didn't bark a single time or have any undesirable behavior. We are all glad that we finally went and are looking forward to going again soon.
